Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass #1)

What is this book about?

When magic has gone from the world, and a vicious king rules from his throne of glass, an assassin comes to the castle. She does not come to kill, but to win her freedom. If she can defeat twenty-three killers, thieves, and warriors in a competition to find the greatest assassin in the land, she will become the King's Champion and be released from prison.

Her name is Celaena Sardothien.

The Crown Prince will provoke her. The Captain of the Guard will protect her.

And a princess from a foreign land will become the one thing Celaena never thought she'd have again: a friend.

But something evil dwells in the castle—and it's there to kill. When her competitors start dying, horribly, one by one, Celaena's fight for freedom becomes a fight for survival—and a desperate quest to root out the source of the evil before it destroys her world.

Reread review

I had forgotten so much of this book in only a year and I never had this much fun rereading something.

Celaena Sardothien is everything I love in female MC: badass, smart-mouthed, funny, strong, yet vulnerable at times, and she is flawed and I love her for it.

Honestly, going into this reread, I was certain I would remember every little twists and revelation, but I did not and I think I enjoyed reading this book for the second time even more than I did the first time around.

Also, it’s super fun to read a book when you already know important things that come afterwords and I loved seeing and noticing the little bit of information that were sort of hidden this early on in the series.

It actually helped me remember why this is one of my all time favorite series!
