What is this book about?

All books in the series can be read as stand-alones.

Everyone says opposites attract. And they must be right, because there’s no logical reason why I’m so drawn to Colin Fitzgerald. I don’t usually go for tattoo-covered, video-gaming, hockey-playing nerd-jocks who think I’m flighty and superficial. His narrow view of me is the first strike against him. It doesn’t help that he’s buddy-buddy with my brother.

And that his best friend has a crush on me.

And that I just moved in with them.

Oh, did I not mention we’re roommates?

I suppose it doesn’t matter. Fitzy has made it clear he’s not interested in me, even though the sparks between us are liable to burn our house down. I’m not the kind of girl who chases after a man, though, and I’m not about to start. I’ve got my hands full dealing with a new school, a sleazy professor, and an uncertain future. So if my sexy brooding roomie wises up and realizes what he’s missing?

He knows where to find me.

What I thought of it?

I loved this book!
Okay, but first, context of my reading journey. So I wanted to read the Briar U series for a while now, but as it is a spin-off series, I read the Off-Campus series first. And I loved the first book as well. But then the next three books, I found enjoyable, but not really 5 stars worthy for me. So I really hope this will not happen again with this series.

But at the end of The Goal (the fourth book in the Off-Campus series) it was teased that The Chase would be about Fitz and Summer. And to be honest, I was already hocked! I mean we are talking about a nerd WITH tattoos AND a jock?! So I might be biased, but Fitz might be my favorite male MC from the Elle Kennedy’s books I read so far!

That being said, I was a little skeptical about Summer because she is a lot, even as a fictional character. But Kennedy just managed to make me connect with a girl that is the opposite of my personality!

The Chase was so funny, and the tension between our two MCs was just off the charts, I loved it so much! I felt like the struggles the characters faced were real and actually made sense with the rest of the story.

The only tiny down side would be the love triangle with Hunter in the mix. I’m not even sure it was a true love triangle, but I was already in love with Fitz so everything with Hunter was useless to me. But it did add a little bit a drama - which I’m not usually a fan of - but it also felt natural to the story so I didn’t mind it that much.

So, yeah, this was a five stars for me, I hope the rest of the series is as good as this one!
