After narrowly escaping death at the hands of the Dames Blanches, Lou, Reid, Coco, and Ansel are on the run from coven, kingdom, and church—fugitives with nowhere to hide.
To elude the scores of witches and throngs of chasseurs at their heels, Lou and Reid need allies. Strong ones. But protection comes at a price, and the group is forced to embark on separate quests to build their forces. As Lou and Reid try to close the widening rift between them, the dastardly Morgane baits them in a lethal game of cat and mouse that threatens to destroy something worth more than any coven.

I was a little bit hesitant going in into this second installment because I had heard so many mixed reviews.
As I loved the first book (5 stars), I had high expectations for this sequel and in the end, I have mixed feelings about this book.
Compared to some people, I didn’t really struggle getting into the story and I really enjoyed the plot and the storyline in general.
However, I really struggle to connect with the characters. Lou is an impulsive character and I loved her for it in the first book, but everything she did annoyed me in this one. And I love Reid as a character, but I felt like he was a little stubborn on some aspects.
That being said, I also feel that Shelby Mahurin actually created real life characters, hence, them not being perfect and them acting like real people would.
So, yes, mixed feelings about this once, but I still really enjoy it in general, it was still funny, and action packed and the tension between our two MCs was still amazing!
